Northrop Grumman Dominguez Hills

TRW moved into this secure tech campus in Dominguez Hills in 1987, to house information technology aspects of its satellite and command and control systems programs. The site was acquired by Northrop Grumman when it bought TRW in 2002, and was designated as the Mission Systems, Tactical Systems Division campus. It is located in an office park called the Dominguez Technology Center, on Glenn Curtis Street, which was named after the early aviation pioneer. Curtis helped organize an air meet at Dominguez Field, a nearby airstrip, in 1910. With a reported 250,000 attendees, it was the largest such event ever held, and is considered to be the progenerative moment for the Southern California aviation industry. Across the street from the Northrop facility is a state historic monument, erected in 1959, that commemorates this event (unless the plaque is missing, which it usually is). Northrop closed the facility at Dominguez Hills a few years ago, moving some of its 700 employees to other locations.
