Mojave Test Area

The Mojave Test Area is a 40-acre site at the north end of the Antelope Valley, used primarily for small to medium-sized experimental rocket projects. On site are static test stands, launch towers, concrete block houses, observation bunkers, and a rocket assembly building. It is owned and operated by the Reaction Research Society, an educational non-profit organization directed by rocket enthusiasts, many of whom have professional ties to Southern California aerospace companies. The society was formed in 1943, and has operated the Mojave Test Site since 1955. It is located next to the Friends of Amateur Rocketry launch site, operated by a more recently formed non-profit rocket enthusiasts group.
