This three-building complex at 16250 Technology Drive in Rancho Bernardo is the largest urban complex for BAE Systems in Southern California. BAE, formerly known as British Aerospace Limited, is the largest European defense contractor, and is one of the world’s principal aerospace electronics systems developers, making radar, surveillance, command and control, and electronic warfare systems used by the USA and allies. In 2001 it was about to take over TRW, when Northrop Grumman intervened and outbid it. Elsewhere in Southern California, BAE operates a major shipyard at the Navy base in San Diego, and has a presence at testing and training sites in the Mojave.
