Anduril is a new aerospace and defense company, founded in 2017, and focused on unmanned aerial systems, surveillance systems, and command and control systems, that are small in scale and use software platforms developed by the company and its Silicon Valley associates. Anduril was co-founded by Palmer Luckey, the developer of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, and Trae Stephens of Palantir. The new company built its headquarters in Orange County, in Costa Mesa, redeveloping a former Los Angeles Times printing plant into a large high-tech campus. It has tested drones at the former TRW Capistrano test facility.
