2401 East El Segundo Boulevard

An office building across the street from Los Angeles Air Force Base and the Aerospace Corporation is shared by three important companies related to national aerospace: Lockheed Martin, Parsons, and MITRE. Lockheed Martin has a major presence in satellites and aerospace, but this is the company’s only facility in El Segundo, as their satellite plant is in Northern California, next to Moffett Field, in Sunnyvale. Pasadena-based Parsons builds missile launch complexes and intelligence systems, as well as nuclear research sites, bridges, and airports. MITRE is a nationwide federally funded research and development entity, spun out of MIT’s Lincoln Lab (the nation’s original radar R&D center, located in Bedford, Massachusetts). MITRE has an office in El Segundo for obvious reasons, dating back to its central role in developing SAGE, the nation’s first computer-based real-time early warning radar system.
