Teterboro Airport has been the production site for several defense and aviation equipment companies, such as North American Aviation, Fokker, and Johnson Controls. The Bendix Corporation had a major plant at Teterboro Airport for over 50 years, manufacturing flight control systems for military aircraft. The plant was bought by Honeywell in 1983. It was closed in 2008, and the work was moved to Albuquerque. The property has been remediated by its new owners, the Catellus Development Company, once part of Santa Fe Railroad.
