The State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry operates an Adirondack visitor center at its small campus in Newcomb, near the center of the park. Displays focus on the natural history of the region. It is one of two colleges in the park (the other is Paul Smith’s College), each of which operates a public visitor center. Previously known as Visitor Interpretation Centers, or VICs, they used to be managed with the Adirondack Park Agency, but are now run independently by each college.
